About Silly Loaf

For 15 years we have been making wearable joy; Jewellery and accessories in bold, colourful styles designed to make sure grown ups are still having a bit of fun!

Now we're growing and we want to bring you as much playful, colourful, independently made art and goods as we possibly can... so we enlisted some friends to join team joy. Our website is a bonanza of indie makers and designers where you can buy gorgeous gifts all in one place. You're not just supporting one business by shopping with us - we have over 40 small businesses to choose from in our shop and online.

The Team

Silly Loaf has always been run by one tiny human - me! I'm Sophie and I'm a Yorkshire lass that refuses to grow up. Since I was a little girl my Dad has called me 'Soph the Loaf' and so when I was naming our brand it seemed like the perfect choice to include my nickname.

I studied art and design at college and when my dream to study fashion design at University didn't pan out (after many tears) I started my own business selling hand assembled jewellery on Etsy.

Fast forward and now every Silly Loaf design is hand drawn and completely unique. We have customers all over the world, have been stocked in Battersea Power Station, were featured on TV and have our very own physical shop in Leeds.

Over the years I have been supported by my family and friends, a few freelancing superstars and we would not be here today without Stu - my unpaid partner in everything!

We now are lucky enough to be joined by my amazing assistant Elle, who is full of ideas and new techniques to streamline the way we make and sell. Elle is an incredible creative with a slew of amazing projects under her belt (hello pigeon!) and we recently collaborated on our first design together!

The Ethos

At Silly Loaf we want to encourage others to have fun, think differently and do what they love so together we can all create a world where anything is possible.

We try to make everything as sustainable as we can, reuse our waste materials, recycle, avoid plastic packaging and have a small batch manufacturing process. We also invest in environmental schemes to offset our carbon footprint.

We use nickel free, stainless steel and 18K gold plated metals in our jewellery to protect your skin, but keep costs as low as we can and we invest in other makers and products with a similar vibe and intention.

We're not perfect and we're always interested in ways you think we can improve, so be sure to let us know!

How our jewellery is Made

All Silly Loaf jewellery designs are hand drawn and cut from recyclable or recycled acrylic and FSC certified sustainable wood on our in house laser cutter (named Burke!).

Our pieces are hand painted in our studio in Leeds by myself or my assistant Elle and we make everything in small batches to reduce overstock.

We recycle our offcut acrylic waste into our offcut jewellery range (think mismatching stud sets and one off necklaces) where possible and anything else is shredded, squished and turned into 100% recycled sheet material ready to be turned into something new.

We use nickel free materials like iron, stainless steel and 18k plated metals to make our jewellery so it's kind to your sensitive skin, while keeping our price points as low as we can.
