Where to Eat in Amsterdam: Bakers & Roasters

No one does Brunch like the Dutch and Bakers & Roasters in Amsterdam is a dream come true if you like great, hearty food.

Bakers & Roasters have a couple of locations around Amsterdam and we headed to their Kadijksplein restaurant at the top near the river IJ and Amsterdam Centraal station. When we arrived we had to give our name and phone number at the door while we waited for a table – it was pretty rammed when we got there so there was a bit of a wait, but thankfully there’s a gorgeous canal bridge around the corner with a beautiful row of coloured houses so we popped along there to take some photos.

When our table came available we got a text message asking us to head back to the restaurant and we were seated straight away. Stu ordered a Kiwi Brekkie with eggs, bacon, sausage and potatoes(!) and I picked Huevos Rancheros as I have some sort of unspoken rule to try the dish wherever I go!

When I headed back to Amsterdam for work a few months later, the number one thing I wanted to do was to pop back to Bakers & Roasters for another plate of Huevos Rancheros! I tried their other location in De Pijp which was just as lovely and busy! I was on my own this time so I was seated pretty quickly at the bar, but what can I say? The Dutch love their brunch and Bakers & Roasters is one of the best around!

The food is a little on the pricey side, but to be expected for a restaurant in a big city like Amsterdam. You’re pretty set for the day, though, the food is delicious and very filling so combine your breakfast and lunch and you won’t need to eat again until tea time!
